  • Dr. Phil's personality test - Try it!

I got this very wonderful, self-assessment questions to see what kind of individual person / character you are.

I guess it's pretty accurate, since most of my friends, who did the test agreed that it described their internal characteristic pretty well. The best part, it doesn't come with years of bad-lucks if you don't forward these to friends! :D

It's simple. Just scroll down to see how I managed to get my result. The blue ones are my answers, which equates to the points given. The total points accumulated will show your type of personality.

Now add up the total number of points.

    (My points are : 4 + 4 + 2 + 6 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 7 + 6 + 1 = 40)

    OVER 60 POINTS :
Others see you as someone they should "handle with care." You're seen
as vain, self-centered, and who is extremely dominant. Others may
admire you, wishing they could be more like you, but don't always trust
you, hesitating to become too deeply involved with you.

    51 TO 60 POINTS :
Others see you as an exciting, highly volatile, rather impulsive
personality; a natural leader, who's quick to make decisions, though
not always the right ones. They see you as bold and adventuresome,
someone who will try anything once; someone who takes chances and
enjoys an adventure. They enjoy being in your company because of the
    excitement you radiate.

    41 TO 50 POINTS :
Others see you as fresh, lively, charming, amusing, practical, and
always interesting; someone who's constantly in the center of
attention, but sufficiently well-balanced not to let it go to their
    head. They also see you as kind, considerate, and understanding;
someone who'll always cheer them up and help them out.

    31 TO 40 POINTS :
Others see you as sensible, cautious, careful & practical. They
see you as clever, gifted, or talented, but modest. Not a person who
makes friends too quickly or easily, but someone who's extremely loyal
to friends you do make and who expect the same loyalty in return.
Those who really get to know you realize it takes a lot to shake your
trust in your friends, but equally that it takes you a long time to get
over if that trust is ever broken.
    (True!!!)

    21 TO 30 POINTS:
Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy. They see you as very
cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder. It would
really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the
spur of the moment, expecting you to examine everything carefully from
every an gle and the n, usually decide against it. They think this
reaction is caused partly by your careful nature.

    UNDER 21 POINTS :
People think you are shy, nervous, and indecisive, someone who needs
looking after, who always wants someone else to make the decisions
& who doesn't want to get involved with anyone or anything! They
see you as a worrier who always sees problems that don't exist. Some
peopl e think you' re boring. Only those who know you well know that
    you aren't.

    How much you got yours?

  • Upcoming new projects

The week before was terribly hectic. I have to shift gear to speed mode where everything has to be doubly-fast! Though, it was an energy-draining week, but I have to admit that most tasks were well performed with minimum hurdles to overcome. Overall, I'm completely satisfied with things are.

Got to meet some new clients from Jurong Corp last Tuesday . We were introduced to some of their new projects. We will be starting a Business Park project for One-North. Since I was already involved doing the simulation of the Master Plan a few years back, I am really looking forward to continue my involvement further.

It was a great introduction with the good people from Jurong Corp. I had the chance to introduce my firm, Zuetech, to them and they were quite impressed with projects that we had undertook. I hope that could instill some level of confidence in them before we move on to the next level.

Wednesday was doing site visits during most of the day. Went to Tan Tock Seng Hospital to do some site checkings for the new escalator works at the basement level.

Minor issues cropped up, but the men were quick to find solutions before the RI inspections next week. So, well done boys!

Thursday was in office for a while. Finishing stack of workloads which had to be postponed for the past few days. Clearing off emails and reverting necessary ones.

Tai YuanYvonne called me on the phone later in the afternoon. She planned to visit Tai Yuan Heights for her new reconstruction project. So met up with her later in the evening to discuss some technical matters.

Made a trip later in the afternoon to Tai Yuan again for site measurement. It was drizzling before we had the chance to tour the site. But managed to make a thorough checks in the later part, although we caught ourselves a little wet.

Then came Friday. It was supposed to be the start of the weekend and fit for chilling out, but things seems not to be slowing down any moment. Meeting already started at 10am. I had to do project briefing to the builders and engineers to get them prepared for the upcoming inspections for the hospital works. Some outstanding works still in progress. So they have about a week to rectifiy things and adjust to the schedule.

Saturday made a trip back to office to finish up building plans for Yvonne. We were hoping to submit by the end of the day. Unfortunately, some design issues cropped up. Accuracy and precision to each details were commented.

So, after spending the whole afternoon amending the design, she finally aborted the process. I believed she wasn't very pleased with the outcome and I wasn't too. But then, it was a bit too late to launch the submission. So we have do it after this weekend.

I can anticipate that I'll be quite occupied next week. We'll be at JTC Summit setting up office for the drafting team.  Got an email from client yesterday, requesting for their resumes. I hope Shawn should be able to get a few guys on board by now.

Really hope the coming week will be much easier for us. I don't want to miss the movie outing with the guys later this Friday. :)

  • Oh no! It's a trap!

Being able to fully maximise space usage, is another critical factor in architecture. But to create a space into a trap, is another thing.

Fireman Access Panel or A Booby Trap??

    Booby trap
    An actual booby trap

    How it works
How a booby trap actually works

    1) Defination of a booby trap:

In warfare, a booby trap is an anti-personnel weapon placed in building or in a non-combat area that has a psychological attraction for enemy soldiers. Triggering the device will kill or injure the victim.

    2) Defination of a Fireman Access Panel :

ACCESS OPENING TO BUILDING FOR FIRE FIGHTING - FIRE CODE REGULATION 2007

4.2.3(a) Openings on the external wall for external fire fighting and rescue operation. Access openings shall include unobstructed external wall openings, windows, balcony doors, glazed wall panels or access panels. Windows, doors, wall panels or access panels must be readily openable from inside and outside, unless fitted with breakable glazing. Inside and outside of access openings shall be unobstructed at all times during the occupancy of the building.

Wonder what will happen if there's a real fire outbreak and the fire rescuer needs to access during the emergency? - Oh no! It's a trap! :)

  • The Forbidden Kingdom - (Movie Review)

    The-Forbidden-Kingdom
    The Forbidden Kingdom

A great treat for all chinese martial-art lovers!

Never before, in a movie where you can catch a chance to watch the all-time kung-fu celebrity stars like Jackie Chan and Jet Li, contesting each other with their skillfull kicks and punches!

This English + Chinese movie, is a mystical epic adventure of an American boy from Boston, into the unknown world of unfamilliar cultures. Like A dream in a dream, he has to conquest obstacles unexplainable and of total mystery to him, for the sake of returning the magical wooden stick (a sort of weapon), known as the 'staff', that once belonged to the legendary Monkey King, who was cursed and turned into stone, by the Jade Warlord general during a fighting challenge. Only with the return of the staff to his hand, the Monkey King is able to free himself once again from the curse.

With amazingly beautiful backdrops of a "once-upon-a-time-in-china", it has brought audiences into an unkown kingdom through the gate of no gate, where he met a drunken kung-fu master, who saved him from the brutality of the warlords army.

From there, their relationships grew fonder, where they realised that both need each other's help to survive in this long and dangerous journey. Along the way, there came Golden Sparrow (Liu Yifei), a young & sweet chinese girl, who is seeking revenge for the death of her parents, murdered by the same evil general, Jade Warlord. A warrior princess herself, only she who knew the way to defeat the general warlord, is through piercing a specially made Jade Arrow cum 'hair-pin' into him. (Wow! That's creatively interesting!)

An additonal member added to the 3-men tribe, when a monk who suddenly crossed into their path and attempt to steal the 'staff' from the them. Unknowing that he also has the same objective to return the staff to the rightful owner, a fierceful kung-fu fighting scene has taken place in a temple betwen the drunken master (Jackie Chan) and the silent monk (Jet Li).

That has to be the best part of the movie where they both showcased the best of their fighting talents which kept audiences tight to their seats. Speeds, agility, endurance, flying kicks, fearsome punches and all things that relates to shaolin kung-fu.

However, I feel the overall story is just duplications and re-enactments of movies like the Karate Kid, The Drunken Master and the Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, which I could recalled watching similar storylines of those 3 movies. (Not very creative on that part). But, you can expect some comedy acting by Jackie Chan himself and a little bit of romance between the American boy and Golden Sparrow, which I think it was just to soften the whole mood. (No kissing scenes in this movie, so lower down your expectation.)

Though, the storyline is pretty simple (like other typical chinese swordfighting dramas), the cgi used for this movie was very good. Billiantly put together with the camera angles (esp. on the fighing scenes), I think its one of the best kung-fu movie ever made in hollywood that I've ever watched.

I think Liu Yifei (Golden Sparrow), with her oriental features, is very sweet looking in this movie. Should watch her!

I give 3.5 out of 5 credits for the overall. You will never fall asleep!

ps : Appreciations to Kristina and friends for the great movie outing!
